Your description is accurate when it comes to making a commentary on the cultures of today...the artist is a prophet, calling society to change and see the current situations that need addressing, even if they look beautiful, they still need the action of a just and charitable response. Unfortuanately the artist like the prophet is usually rejected until after their death!

Artist's Description

The Videre Videnda brochure says, "Ars Meretrix challenges you to share the predicament of many painters like himself." The literal meaning of the title is "The Art of the Prostitute." And to me, that has a quadruple meaning. One, even as a prostitute, you can be an artist, filling up some void in somebody's life.
Two, even as an artist, you can prostitute yourself, selling yourself to an unworthy cause.
Three, you being an artist, people prostitute you, taking advantage of you. In any case, the art, or the artist suffers. Or both.
Fourth, the artists suffer most for their art. Historically, the painters are the ones who suffer most for their creativity. Or, perhaps more accurately, it's those who wield the brush who are the most tortured in their lives and it shows in their paintings.

My works seem to have disconnected elements but they are in fact linked in the way that I see them. To the audience, however, they are like puzzles; open to varied personal interpretations. I don’t like to confine myself in a box. Some days I paint social commentaries. Other days I just paint my personal observations of issues that pertain to almost anything under the sun - this can be political, social, environmental, religious, cultural, and even agricultural. I try to paint realities in, out, and of life. Early in my career as a painter, I was mostly...
