Eluvies
Artist
Paul Hilario
Medium
Painting - Acrylic On Canvas
Description
Eluvies (latin: Flood) is made out of water. On her hair paper boats float. Her path is covered with garbage and she glances back at us with the look of seemingly trying to say Let me pass. But she cannot.
The red-line denotes danger - a situation where in flood waters have risen to dangerous levels. If you invert paper boats, they look like the roof of houses. The top third of the painting is actually the continuation of Eluvies skirt. Houses have been inundated because of too much garbage that clogged floodways.
This painting was inspired by Typhoon Gener which exposed a major problem in Metro Manila garbage. Even months after the storm, the waters of Manila de Bay is littered with our pollution.

A sincere thanks to you Ronda :-) I see that you have a different taste with regards to paintings. My more 'serious' works are a bit hard to appreciate. It is only a select few who do. Thank you for being one of them :-)
