Ah, yes, the plight of the shark...recently within the past two weeks...(August 22, 2013) this problem of the shark's population has been highlighted on TV news. The question as you have raised, is what happens when this part of the food web and chain is broken? I think that generally it is a failure of the education system to teach biology more completely. If you asked your aquaintances and friends a question about the food chain/web, it usually is met with..."What are you talking about!" Therefore there is no engagement.

Paul Hilario replied:

Hi Jack. There has been many information campaigns on the trade but not enough impact (I think) as people who have eaten sharksfin soup or sharksfin wanton/siomai consider it a cultural tradition already. They grew up eating it. I have tried it when I was younger but never really put any thought to it. No one told me and in countries where it is widely consumed, the children also are clueless. Yes, education has something to do with it.

Paul Hilario replied:

Thanks for viewing, for the effort in FVSU, reading the description, and your positive comments Mona! Glad that the message I want to show came across. This painting is not popular to many people for obvious reasons.
